Why go
The beach shows a modern, planned waterfront side of Fukuoka within reach of the Momochihama cultural district.
Field Notes
The sandy shore and open promenade are not evidence that swimming is permitted whenever the park is accessible. The operator allows swimming only in the designated eastern Momochihama area during the announced staffed season and hours. Outside that arrangement, it prohibits swimming; limited shallow water play has its own area rules, and the western shipping area is excluded. Read the current zone map before entering the water.
For a visit outside the bathing season, build the outing around the beach, the bay outlook and the surrounding waterfront rather than expecting a supervised swim. The operator publishes a separate annual notice for the bathing period and has announced the end of the 2026 season. That distinction allows the park to remain a useful coastal stop while avoiding the assumption that its summer water-use arrangements apply all year.
Planning Notes
Suggested time on site: 1.5–3 hours. Keep travel and waiting time separate from that estimate.
Timing noted for this stop: For sunset visits, beach-house facilities close 18:00 Mar–Jun/Sep–Dec, 20:00 Jul–Aug, 17:00 Jan–Feb. Swimming is seasonal.
Access reference: Nishijin Station; about 20 minutes on foot, or use a bus to Fukuoka Tower. Check the final walking or connecting leg when choosing your route.
The west Momochi beach-house changing rooms and warm showers open at 09:30; close at 20:00 in July–August, 17:00 in January–February and 18:00 otherwise. These are amenity hours, not beach access hours. Since the September 1, 2026 swimming-season close, only below-knee waterside play is allowed, excluding the west Momochi navigation area; there are no resident lifeguards and swimming is prohibited.
