How affiliate links work

Some travel-service links on Unmapped Japan are affiliate or referral links. If you follow an eligible link and later complete a qualifying purchase or booking, Unmapped Japan may receive a commission or referral benefit from the provider. This generally does not add a separate charge to your purchase.

Some ordinary outbound travel-brand links may also be converted at page load into tracked affiliate links by our affiliate technology. The destination should remain the same provider or specific offer; the tracking layer is used for attribution and does not change our editorial selection.

Tracking and Cookie Settings

Optional partner technology may be used to convert eligible travel links and attribute qualifying purchases or bookings. It is enabled by default where applicable law permits. Active Members can opt out on their browser through Cookie Settings. In the United Kingdom and European Economic Area, the optional technology remains off until affirmative consent is recorded. Supported browser privacy signals and site-wide settings may also prevent activation. A third-party provider may apply its own cookies or tracking after you choose to leave this site and visit that provider.

Editorial independence

Affiliate eligibility does not determine whether a location belongs in the Places catalog, its access level, its factual history, its folklore treatment, or its editorial recommendation. Where the site has a configured partner link, it may be offered as a convenient booking or travel option alongside official information.

Third-party responsibility

Prices, cancellation policies, inventory, booking terms, availability, and service quality are controlled by the third-party provider. Verify those terms on the provider’s site before purchasing.
