Nagoya City Science Museum - visitor guide

名古屋市科学館

Nagoya City Science Museum combines hands-on galleries with a planetarium inside the large silver sphere above Shirakawa Park. Large-scale demonstrations turn subjects such as air movement and electricity into observable events. Decide whether the planetarium or particular demonstrations are priorities, then use the daily program to arrange time among the galleries.

Why go

Its mix of interactive displays and scheduled demonstrations suits visitors who enjoy seeing scientific processes in action.

Planning Notes

Suggested time on site: 3–4 hours. Keep travel and waiting time separate from that estimate.

Timing noted for this stop: Opening hour; planetarium tickets can sell out.

Access reference: Fushimi Station, Exit 4 or 5; about 5 minutes on foot. Check the final walking or connecting leg when choosing your route.

From October 1, 2026, adult admission is ¥500 for the permanent galleries or ¥1,000 including the planetarium; special exhibitions are priced separately. The official online service sells gallery and planetarium tickets. Advance planetarium purchase is recommended because sessions can sell out; choose the appropriate gallery/planetarium combination unless gallery admission is already covered.
