Marine World Uminonakamichi - visitor guide

マリンワールド海の中道

Marine World Uminonakamichi introduces the waters around Kyushu through large aquarium tanks and exhibits on regional marine environments. Its position on Fukuoka's Uminonakamichi peninsula gives the subject a coastal setting, with Hakata Bay beside the complex. Follow the habitat displays at your own pace and check the day's presentation schedule if shows are a priority.

Why go

Its regional focus makes the aquarium a way to understand the seas surrounding Kyushu while visiting Fukuoka.

Field Notes

For visits between 12 January and 9 April 2027, the operator has announced a suspension of the dolphin and sea-lion show while the show pool and audience seating are repaired. The seating area is also scheduled to be inaccessible during that period. The dates include contingency time, so the operator may bring the restart forward if work finishes sooner.

This notice does not describe a full aquarium closure. It says other presentations, including the large offshore tank show and pool feeding times, will continue, and dolphins can still be viewed at the Kaiju Island dolphin pool. If the arena show is your main reason for travelling to Uminonakamichi, check the latest repair notice before settling the itinerary. Otherwise, plan around the regional habitat galleries and the program available on the actual day.

Planning Notes

Suggested time on site: 3–4 hours. Keep travel and waiting time separate from that estimate.

Timing noted for this stop: Morning through early afternoon to catch multiple scheduled programs.

Access reference: JR Uminonakamichi Station; roughly 5–10 minutes on foot. Check the final walking or connecting leg when choosing your route.
