Why go
The viewpoint helps visitors understand the physical relationship between Hiroshima's memorial sites, rivers and present-day urban landscape.
Field Notes
The visit has several distinct parts: the wood-lined rooftop outlook, the Orizuru Square experience area and the spiral slope linking levels. They offer different ways to pause with the city, from the broad view to closer displays and the walk through the building. Choose how much time to spend in each rather than treating a tower ticket as only a lift to a photograph. The nearby memorial sites deserve a separate, unhurried visit.
A notice for 29 September to 2 October 2026 restricts parts of the twelfth-floor Orizuru Square, with the whole square scheduled to close until 1 pm on 2 October. Some digital contents are unavailable during the restricted period. Check the latest notice if visiting around these dates, because the operator says the arrangements may change.
The Orizuru Wall has a separate temporary closure scheduled through 1 pm on 2 October 2026 for removal of accumulated cranes. This is a restriction on the participatory wall, not a statement that the entire tower is closed.
Planning Notes
Suggested time on site: 1–2 hours. Keep travel and waiting time separate from that estimate.
Timing noted for this stop: Late afternoon for changing light over central Hiroshima.
Access reference: Atomic Bomb Dome-mae tram stop, less than 1 minute on foot. Check the final walking or connecting leg when choosing your route.
