Sapporo Snow Festival transforms the city’s winter landscape into a series of snow and ice displays. Large sculptures anchor Odori Park, Susukino offers an ice-focused setting, and Tsudome provides a different, activity-led experience. The separate venues let visitors shape a visit around sculpture, evening atmosphere or snow play.
YOSAKOI Soran Festival brings teams of dancers to Sapporo’s stages and streets, with Odori Park at its centre. Coordinated formations, distinctive costumes and naruko clappers give each team its own character within a festival rooted in the meeting of yosakoi dance and Hokkaido’s Soran Bushi song.
Asahikawa Winter Festival is known for snow sculpture on an imposing scale, with winter attractions and related ice displays adding variety to the city’s cold-season celebrations. The appeal lies in seeing snow treated as both building material and public art, with a programme that changes from edition to edition.
