Sanja Matsuri - plan your visit 2027: Dates, Venue & Visitor Guide
三社祭
Sanja Matsuri carries Asakusa Shrine’s festival into the surrounding neighbourhoods through processions, music and energetic mikoshi bearing. Community portable shrines and the shrine’s three principal mikoshi give different days their character, bringing the district’s local associations into the centre of the celebration.

What to know before you go.
The festival has a sequence: an opening procession and performances, neighbourhood mikoshi activity, then the journeys of the shrine’s three main mikoshi. That makes the choice of day more useful than simply choosing a spot near the shrine. The 2027 detailed routes and crowd arrangements need to be checked when published, particularly for the early departures and evening returns.
Event dates, access and crowd controls can change. Verify with the organizer before committing non-refundable travel.
